Drugstore Haul & Lip Swatches

Sometimes you just have the urge to go to CVS for no good reason and buy things you don’t need….

Well I did “need” a new liquid liner.  Thought I would give the highly rated Revlon Colorstay a try.

I have the Pink and Gold Milani Jewel Fx polishes and love them so thought I would pick up the red.  I’ve been on a red kick lately if you haven’t noticed.  The thing with these polishes is they WILL peel if you don’t use another polish as a base color.

All the Wet n Wild Megalast matte lipsticks were only $1.99 so I grabbed a couple.  I picked up Think Pink, Stoplight Red & Purty Persimmon.  Think Pink is an older lipstick with the old packaging.  I’m so glad that the new ones actually have the name of the lipstick on the bottom.  I’ve always loved the Megalasts and so I didn’t hesitate to grab some even though I really try hard not to impulse buy lipsticks since I have so many.  They are always very opaque and pigmented with no cheap lipstick smell.

Think Pink is a creamy, pinky nude.  It is a little bit “bubblegum” in color but can easily be toned down with a little gloss.

Stoplight Red is a blue based, bright red lipstick.  It looks suspiciously similar to Ruby Woo.  I posted a comparison pic below.  It is not quite as matte as Ruby Woo but I don’t think I’ve come across any lippie as matte as RW.  Stoplight Red looked the same with and without flash so I didn’t bother posting both pictures.

Purty Persimmon looks like a orangey red in the tube but applies more orange.  It’s really pretty and slightly creamier and less matte than the rest.  Still very opaque though…

CVS was having a deal where you get $4 in CVS bucks if you buy $10 of Revlon products (I’m a sucker for CVS bucks) and so I decided to see if any Revlon products caught my eye.  I never really got sucked into the Lip Butter craze but I did recall somebody posting a picture wearing Strawberry Shortcake.  It looked like a sheer pretty baby pink.  I think it applies prettier than it looks in the tube and tones down my pigmented lips beautifully.  I’ve only tried this to swatch but I really adore the color.  We’ll see how it wears.   I just might have to pick some more up depending on how it wears.  I do like my brights opaque so I’d probably stick to lighter colors in this line.
