Stiletto Nail OCD
I’ve been dying to get some gel nails for awhile now. I get them every 3-4 years or so and keep them for about a year. I’ve also been wanting to try out the whole “stiletto nail” thing. I feel like they are super feminine, lengthen your fingers and are edgy all at the same time. Lord knows I need all the help I can get with my 11 year old boy hands. My manicurist hadn’t really heard of the whole “stiletto nail” thing so she called it oval. I guess in a way it IS oval but sharper. I had to keep getting her to file more. I opted for a periwinkle cream color by OPI (I can’t recall the name) and kept it really simple. Then by that night I painted a leopard print accent nail.
I actually liked the shape of my nails when I left the salon but as I kept obsessively staring at my nails, I decided I wanted them thinner and sharper. It’s a good thing I know myself because I had her apply a gel coat to my nail UNDER my polish so that I could easily remove the polish and have a pretty shiny base to work with. As I inspect my nails, I realized she didn’t do an incredible job painting them anyway. I kept the periwinkle nail for about 2 days and refiled all my nails. I now LOVE the shape!!!
I decided to play with the Sally Hansen Gem Crush polish in Big Money and create a gradient tip. I really love how it turned out although I don’t think the pictures do it justice.
